Baptisms
Baptism, or christening, is a gift from God, and one we are so happy to extend to members of our church and parish, whatever age.
At the heart of the Christian faith is the belief that God loves us so much that God came down to earth in the person of Jesus Christ to forgive us for the times when we have turned away from God, and to redirect us towards God. Jesus shows us the path of God’s love which we as Christians try to follow.
Jesus Himself was baptised. At his baptism, God speaks from heaven declaring Jesus as God’s Son. When we are baptised, the one being baptised is declared as being part of God’s family as well.
If you are interested in baptism for yourself or your child, then please do enquire via the church office. Our baptisms usually take place at 12:30 on a Sunday at either St Swithun's or St Aidan's, or in the main service.
We do ask that all those enquiring about baptism come to a church service and a short preparation session explaining more about the meanings and rituals of baptism.
There is no charge for the service, but we do welcome donations.
Baptism Certificates cost £10 (if more than one person is baptised in the same service then any additional certificates cost £5).
Reissuing/replacing certificates costs £20
Weddings
It is always a joy to marry couples in our church and to extend God's blessing to their marriages.

Funerals
We are honoured to help families and friends to commemorate the lives of those who have died and to support them in saying goodbye.
If you would like to arrange a funeral in one of our churches, please let your funeral director know.
Blessings, Vow Renewals and Prayers of Love and Faith
We are always delighted to help couples (married, civilly partnered or otherwise) mark their commitments to one another, to pray for them and to extend God's blessing. There are many ways we can do this- please get in touch if you would like to see how we might be able to help do this for you.
